Inversions, Draft and Why Anaconda Flues Load Up

Anaconda sits in the Deer Lodge Valley with high ground on both sides, and in winter that geometry produces temperature inversions - a lid of warmer air sitting on top of the cold air pooled in the valley floor. For a chimney, an inversion is the worst possible weather.
